Paperly Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Overview
Paperly is a document-generation app for Android and iOS that helps you create CVs, invoices, cover letters, receipts, contracts, and business letters from templates. This policy explains what information Paperly collects, how it is used, and your choices. Paperly does not have user accounts and does not send the documents you create to any server — everything you type stays on your device.
Information We Collect
Paperly collects two kinds of information:
- Document content you enter. Names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, and financial details you type into a CV, invoice, letter, receipt, or contract are personal data about you or the people named in your documents (for example, a client's name and address on an invoice). This content is stored only in a local database on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
- Crash and diagnostic data. Paperly uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google) on both Android and iOS to detect and diagnose app crashes. If the app crashes, Crashlytics automatically collects technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and a stack trace of the crash. Paperly does not deliberately attach your name, email, or document content to these reports.
Paperly does not use advertising or analytics SDKs, does not access your camera, photo library, location, contacts, or microphone, and does not require you to create an account or sign in.
How We Use Information
- Document content you enter is used solely to generate and display the documents you create, and to let you save, edit, and export them. We do not access, read, or use this content for any other purpose, because it never leaves your device.
- Crash and diagnostic data is used only to identify and fix bugs and stability issues in the app.
Data Storage, Sharing, and Retention
- Storage: All documents you create are stored locally on your device using a local database. Paperly has no backend server and does not sync or back up your documents to the cloud.
- Sharing: Paperly does not sell or share your document content with any third party. When you choose to export or share a document (for example, via your device's share sheet), that action is initiated by you and goes only to the destination you pick.
- Third-party processing: Crash reports are sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics, which processes this data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Retention: Document content stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app; uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored documents and settings. Crash reports are retained by Firebase according to Google's retention practices.
Permissions
- Android: Paperly requests only the INTERNET permission, which is used to send crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics. Paperly does not request camera, storage, location, contacts, or microphone permissions. Exported files are shared through Android's standard share sheet from a private, app-scoped cache folder.
- iOS: Paperly does not request any special privacy permissions (no camera, photo library, location, or contacts access).
Children's Privacy
Paperly is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Paperly does not create user accounts and stores content only on-device, we have no practical means of identifying a user's age; if you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/EEA or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data. Because Paperly stores your document content only on your device:
- You can view, edit, or delete any document at any time directly within the app.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored content.
- You may request deletion of crash data by contacting us; however, Crashlytics reports are not linked to an identifiable account and may be difficult to locate individually.
If you have questions about your rights, contact us using the details below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
